IUOE Local 115 did not have sufficient space on their home site to chronicle all the developments in British Columbia’s Temporary Foreign Workers saga, a controversy of particular importance to its membership.
Our Left-Handed Solution
We constructed a microsite called “Labour Speaks Out”, which acted as a repository for information about the TFW scandal. A timeline device allowed visitors to see how events were connected chronologically, and a Call to Action section allowed those who wished to contribute to the cause to make donations online.
“Labour Speaks Out” was updated frequently, and was utilized by many followers of the TFW situation as a source of recent news. Journalists reporting on this complex and fast-moving story were particularly likely to use the site’s timeline function as a resource.
